Volunteering

Volunteers are invaluable to the success of our organization, as they are to any non-profit organization. We understand and appreciate the fact that you have chosen to dedicate some of your free time to help improve not only the quality of life and adoptability of our animals but our shelter as well. We thrive to have dedicated, trained volunteers who are regularly involved in the mission of our organization. The success of our mission and the success of our volunteer program will be reflected in the health and happiness of the animals. Volunteering can be one of the most rewarding choices you make in your life. You can help the staff with the care of the animals and the shelter on a daily basis. Dogs and cats need special attention - walks, interaction, social time. The time spent with these animals greatly increases their chances of adoptions. The animals become more socialized, friendly and calm.

"The Best thing you can do for an animal is nothing. " - This is a policy we strongly believe here at the HSSC This means that you take the animal out of the kennel/cage area and do nothing. You hang out in the visitation room, sit outside on a picnic table giving love and attention, provide the animal some valuable quiet time away from the noise and stress of the kennel areas. This time is invaluable to the animals and goes a long way in contributing to the well-being of the animal.
