Shelter Needs
As a non-profit organization, the Humane Society of
Scott County relies on the generous donations of the local community. Every year, the
Humane Society of Scott County tries to find loving homes for over 6,000 animals. There
is not only a need for donated funds but for the large quantities of supplies that are
used on a regular basis.
Below is a list of items that are always in short supply:
- Dog and puppy food - dry (higher quality)
- Dog and puppy food - small bites
- Cat and kitten food - dry
- Cat litter - clay, not scoop-able please
- Rabbit food
- Timothy grass
- Guinea Pig food
- Dog and Cat brushes/grooming supplies
- Window cleaner
- Hand sanitizer
- Shoeboxes (for cats to lounge in)
- Blank 3x5 index cards
- Pens
- Dryer sheets
- Dog and cat toys
- Blankets
- Towels
- Pooper Scoopers
- Paper Towels
- Brooms and dustpans
- Antibacterial hand soap
- Copy paper and legal pads
- Scissors
- Throw rugs
- Laundry detergent & bleach
Most of the animals in the shelter have slept on, played with or were groomed with the
donated items.
Donations can be dropped off at:
- The Humane Society of Scott County
2802 W. Central Park, Davenport, Iowa
business hours are Monday and Wednesday 10:00 AM-6:30 PM; Tuesday,
Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10:00 AM- 4:30 PM; and Sunday noon-4:30 PM.
Two local businesses also operate as representatives for the Humane Society as supply
drop off points:

Business hours are Tuesday-Thursday 10:00 AM-7:00 PM; Friday 9:00 AM-6:00 PM;
and Saturday 9:00 AM-4:00 PM.
- The Scott County Animal Hospital
115 S. 16th Avenue, Eldridge
Business hours are Monday and Wednesday 7:30 AM-7:00 PM;
Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 7:30 AM-5:30 PM; and Saturday 7:30 AM-Noon.
