Bowl for a Buddy

Our second annual Paws-itively Awww-some Event for the HSSC Animals on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Blackhawk Bowl and Martini Lounge raised over $5,000 to support shelter operations.  Thank you to our bowlers, donors, volunteers and 2013 Event Sponsors McGladrey LLC, US Bank, SSAB North American Division, The Barrel House, Thiel Motors, Davenport Audiology Hearing Aid Center and Titas Linens by Claudia.

Doggie Easter Egg Hunt

200 canines and their pet parents turned out on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at our new location - Fejervary Park in Davenport - and raised $2,000!

Every year on the Saturday before Easter, dogs of all sizes with owners clutching leashes gather at the starting line, ready to sniff out and devour doggie treats hidden in the grass. After the hunt, it’s on to bobbing for hot dogs and a Dog Easter Bonnet Contest judged by a local celebrity.  John Hannon of ComedySportz had that honor this year!  Congratulations to Best Bonnet winner “Lily Wu” and her pet parent Margie Martel. Proceeds from the $10 entry fee per dog and $2 Easter Bonnet contest fee benefit the homeless animals at the HSSC.

Doggie Dip

Thank you to the 205 canines and pet parents who hit the pool together on the last day of the summer swim season at the Fejervary Family Aquatic Center in Davenport on August 10th, 2012!  Unified Financial Strategies  successfully sponsored our 7th consecutive event.  Join us again in August – date TBA! Bring your best friend(s) current vaccination certificates, donated items from the HSSC Wish List and cash for doggie admission, donations and to buy winning raffle tickets for great prizes! …

Fall FUR-stival

The HSSC’s annual open house at the shelter is our opportunity to give thanks for our members, donors, volunteers and families who chose shelter pet adoption – the loving option! THANK YOU to 2012 Tail gate PAW-tay sponsors and supporters Schnuck’s, Northgate Hy-Vee, Comedy Sportz, Happy Dog Bakery, Quad City Arts Festival of Trees, and the Family Museum, and to our loyal event volunteers and PAW-tiers.  Plan to PAW-tay with us again next fall!
